OpticiansFriend is committed to making its content usable by as many people as possible, including people who rely on assistive technology.

Standard we aim for

We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible for people with disabilities and more usable for everyone.

Measures we take

• Semantic HTML with clear landmarks (header, navigation, main, and footer) and a "Skip to main content" link.
• Full keyboard operability with a visible focus indicator on every interactive element.
• Text alternatives for meaningful images, and empty alternatives for decorative ones.
• Colour contrast that meets the AA thresholds for text and interface elements.
• Labelled form fields, and calculator errors announced to assistive technology.
• Responsive layouts that support zoom and reflow without loss of content.
• Pages validated against the W3C Nu HTML checker.

Known limitations

The interactive calculators require JavaScript to compute results. The input fields, labels, and result text remain readable and navigable without it, but live calculation does not run. We are happy to help if this affects you.
