…a great way to stay on top of the dynamic field of Opticianry and make some friends in the process.
The EyeWiki is an idea I had after The Eyescribe mentioned that he/she would like to start on an Optometry Wiki. I’ve been thinking about an Opticianry related one for a while and figured why not be all inclusive and simply call it the EyeWiki. I’m sure some of you are probably curious what a wiki is. A wiki is a (more…)
Where I work, we use Resolution lenses. These lenses are great. If you have to work with polycarbonate lenses, Resolution is by far the best. What makes them so good is that they (more…)
The Sagitta calculator is up and working as well. Basically put in all the information necessary. I also put the back vertex power so that (more…)
I’ve just added an induced prism utility to help figure out how much prism is induced in a pair of glasses if decentered incorrectly (It’s also in the Optical Tools section called “Oops The Optician.” I would still like to add a few more things to it, like an ANSI and NJ standard test that detects what the spectacles fail. So, how do you use it? Fill the form as best you can. You don’t have to fill in everything. You must select something from the radio button options (i.e. Twice the Needed Decentration, Opposite Decentration, Twice the Opposite decentration, Without Decentration, Other) or you will get a Null Pointer Error, which means (more…)
December 2005 Scientific American has a cover story Scientific American: An ECHO of Black Holes [ PHYSICS ] “Sound waves in a fluid behave uncannily like light waves in space. Black holes even have acoustic counterparts. Could spacetime literally be a kind of fluid, like the ether of pre-Einsteinian physics??” by Theodore A. Jacobson and Renaud Parentani. In this article, the ether makes somewhat of a comeback. (more…)
A bit off topic, but cool nonetheless. In Discover Magazine’s current issue the article Wave Energy: Can a mechanical snake that surfs the ocean squeeze enough watts from water? is something all renewable energy enthusiasts should read. I love reading about innovative technology that can decrease the dependency on fossil fuels. Wind energy is the type I’m most familiar with. (more…)
Up until a week ago, I couldn’t tell you what an RSS feed was and why it would benefit you as you browse the web. Well, I’m going to lay it all out for you so you can take advantage of it if a site you enjoy going to has this capability. First, RSS stands for many things depending on version, but essentially “Really Simple Syndication” in the current version (2.0). So why is it the neatest thing since sliced bread? It allows you stay connected to a site in a passive way. If you don’t visit a site everyday, but still want to know if someone wrote something worth looking at, RSS is for you. (more…)
Sorry about this change yet again. Why the change? There was an inherent problem with other theme although it looked great, it eventually would push the other sections down over time, every month to be exact. Since there isn’t anything underneath the archives section, it can grow without disturbing anything else. Well, what do you guys think about this?
I love music. One of the few musicians/artists that continually provides awesome tunes is V.A.S.T. which stands for Visual Audio Sensory Theater, the title of the first official album.

With an album cover like that how can I not love this band?!
